MSC Poesia World Cruise stopped for the first time in the Dominican Republic at Taino Bay, Puerto Plata

Showing them the most iconic attractions of Puerto Plata as the Cable Car at Mount Isabel de Torres, the Macorix Rum Factory, the Jose Briseno Baseball Stadium, the Plaza Independencia which is  home to many Victorian-style houses and the San Felipe Cathedral. They could walk down the pink alley and the street of the umbrellas at Puerto Plata, visit  the Amber Museum with some of the DR’s stunning amber stones on several floors, including samples containing animal fossils date back to 15 to 20 million years and one mosquito-encased amber gemstone which was used in Steven Spielberg’s motion picture film Jurassic Park  followed by a drive through Puerto Plata’s scenic waterfront boulevard, the Malecon and the  San Felipe Fortress. They where greeted with live music at Hacienda las Catalina, a Highlight of the excursion and had the chance to taste some typical Dominican food such as  Sancocho, a Dominican stew with rice and  avocado as well as Mofongo which is made from green plantain.
